New edition of the ice climbing guide in the Salzburg Land region
The Salzburg Land region is without doubt one of the absolute ice climbing top spots in the Alps. The region covers the most rewarding ice climbing in the Berchtesgadener Land as well as the best regions in the Land Salzburg, Saalbach and surroundings, Raurisser Tal (Raurisser valley), Tennengebirge (Tennen mountains) and Radstädter Tauern. Last but not least of course the ice climbing paradise in Gasteiner Tal (Gastein Valley). Here, one waterfall after the other lines the way up to the most unique waterfall way back: the ”Highlander” in Sportgastein absolutely belongs to the most impressive ice climbing in the Alpine region.
As in previous editions, the options offered by the popular Rudolshütte are also described.
The 3rd edition has been fully revised and completed once again. Typically Panico, the meanwhile really big part covers a lot of accurate outline and region maps as well as murals and action shots - and now of course also completely available in four colours.
An absolute must for ice freaks.
3rd edition 2011:
384 pages, 185 x 120 mm, 39.00 €

Spectacular first ascent in Badgastein
Shortly after the new edition of the ice climbing guide Salzburger Land, the Triple A Team Thomas Bubendorfer, Sepp Inhöger und Hans Zlöbl succeeded in a spectacular first ascent on the Alraune mountain face in Bad Gastein.
Hans has been observing the route for 10 years and last week Thomas and Hans went ahead for the first successful attempt. The day after, Sepp and Hans were motivated to finish the route by means of hard ropes two and a half meters long and realising the route could work without having to drill additional intermediate hooks.
The result is a perfect and very selective route on the Alraune mountain face. The route makes use of some drilled belays as well as short passages of the adjacent climbing routes, which were also made before the first ascent. The route was decided on from below without any previous preparation. No additional intermediate hooks were used as an intermediate fixing point and it should stay that way.

Gastein's start into the ice climbing season at Sport Schober – Sports and Fashion
The Arc'teryx Test team of SPORT SCHOBER Sports and Fashion starts into the new ice climbing season in Gasteiner Tal (Gastein Valley) in a spectacular way.
The first season target was the ”Mordor” in the ice arena of Gastein Valley. Pro climbers Sepp Inhöger and Hans Zlöbl only need 3 hours to climb through the impressive ice fall measuring 300 meters in length.
A wet ice track awaits the climbers at a height of 150m where both face water cold as ice. Their hands start freezing and the situation up there gets increasingly unpleasant. Spindrift shoots over the wall and within minutes the tour changes from business as usual into an alpine challenge.
The outfit remains waterproof, not even a drop of water penetrates their Arc'teryx Gore Tex wear. When only the best is good enough, Arc'teryx.
